Screen Studio is my go-to macOS screen recorder when I need polished demo footage fast. It packs automatic zooms, smooth cursor motion, customizable backgrounds, and timeline edits so raw recordings look like pro video without After Effects. (screen.studio)

Why I rely on it

  • Cinematic defaults. Automatic zoom on clicks, cursor motion blur, adjustable cursor size, and keyboard shortcut overlays make even simple walkthroughs feel high-end.
  • Social-first outputs. Record once and export in portrait, square, or landscape for TikTok, Reels, YouTube, or product launch pages. Looping, GIF export, and motion crop are built in.
  • Device frames + wallpaper swaps. Wrap recordings in Mac, iPhone, or iPad frames, hide desktop icons, and swap backgrounds to match your brand without editing in other tools.
  • Fast iteration. Built-in timeline lets you trim, speed up/slow down sections, and add callouts before exporting in 4K or sharing directly.

Typical uses

  1. AI tool launch demos. Record a walkthrough, add pacing zooms, and export multiple ratios for social and landing pages.
  2. Course/tutorial clips. Highlight shortcuts, zoom on key UI segments, and overlay annotations.
  3. Internal walkthroughs. Produce clean enablement videos without sending teams through raw screen recordings.

Getting started

  • Download from screen.studio. It’s macOS only (Apple Silicon recommended).
  • Configure presets for cursor size, zoom behavior, and export formats to match your brand.
  • Use the timeline to cut filler, add transitions, and adjust speeds, then export to MP4, GIF, or hand off to Final Cut if you need extra polish.
  • If you record iOS apps, tether your device and enable the built-in iPhone/iPad frame capture for a native feel.
